It was a dark and stormy night...
P.W. Akkerman Dutch Masters #08 Ruisdaels Stormachtig Blauw is darker than Diamine Eclipse and sheens even more than the latter. It’s not grey nor purple. The colour is seen more on drier nibs, where it resembles Diamine Music Collection Vivaldi. In wetter nibs, I myself find the coppery-golden sheen obtrusive with my nib and paper combos. The ink behaves well: no feathering, no bleed through, substantial feel under the nib without feeling thick. Contained lines can be achieved. My dry nibs wrote well. I already have Diamine Eclipse to use if I want to write with a sombre colour, without the excessive sheen present in Ruisdaels Stormachtig Blauw. Again, it’s a well-behaved ink, but not one I would reach for.
