I love pens that hide their brilliance under a cloak of plain black. The Optima is exactly such a pen. This smooth piston filler may not hold as much ink as some longer pens, but the ink capacity is very respectable. As one who likes to change ink often, I actually appreciate the smaller volume so I don't have to waste ink when I want a change. The brilliance of the pen is in its nib though. In the spectrum of smooth writing and feedback, Aurora manages to tread the sweet spot. I really like the way the nib glides across the paper, but still gives me tactile feedback. It's not scratchy or even toothsome. The feedback is so subtle that it's almost just a link from your fingertips to your brain. This pen is a pleasure to use.
