Beautifully and softly depicted using Tenbori technique (Dot carving), the cat is seen sitting demurely with its eyes fixated on the foxtail grasses that is intricately carved out using Senbori technique (Linear carving) - displaying side while exuding a graceful poise and elegant demeanor. The Namiki Chinkin Pen Collection is made up of fountain pens which use "Chinkin (Gold Inlay)", a lacquer-ware technique that Japan boasts is on par with Maki-e. Motifs are carved into the lacquered surface with special chisels, then lacquer is inlaid into the grooves, and strategically placed gold leaves and gold powder gives the pattern expression. The delicate and fine depiction, and three-dimensional aspect that overflows with a strong power of expression are the special characteristics of this collection.
