My first IG ink. It is a dry ink;color is nice and it works well in my very wet, Pelikan fine nib M600
pen
The two Rohrer & Klingner "Iron Gall" inks (Salix and Scabiosa) are lovely inks, and the swabs accurately match their colour (though I personally find the Salix to be just slightly bluer than the swab). They also both have a fascinating hue which is hard to describe but makes them "different" somehow, to my eye. They're a modern form of Iron Gall inks, which are apparently perfectly safe for modern fountain pens, dry quickly and are then waterproof. They have a dry flow, and would be best in a pen with a wet nib. These are not ones I use all the time, but I do love them, and regularly return to them. I, personally, have found both these inks to be excellent for use with italic nibs. I suspect that this is because they flow slowly and dry quickly. In my own particular experience this seems to enhance the italic qualities of the nibs, in a way that can't be measured simply by quickly drawing the usual criss-cross line variation grid.
This in is awesome. It works really well on cheap paper: no feathering or bleeding that I can see. It even manages to shade! The ink turns from a solid blue when wet to a color reminiscent of deep, faded denim. The dry time that bad. It's no quick-dry, but the dry time is sufficient. The shading is really cool. It doesn't shade in a "traditional" way, where the darker color ends up pooling at the bottom of a letter or line. The shading appears to be random and will show up at the bottom of a "y" just as often as it will at the top of a "g". It's waterproof and permanent. This is my new favorite blue (or ink!).
This is such a beautiful, well-behaved ink that I had to get a bottle. It's a potent and somehow dusty blue that doesn't bleed or feather, even in some pretty wet pens.
