Description The Namiki Yukari Royale Urushi Fountain Pen shown here in Vermillion makes a simple but elegant statement, through the use of the Roiro Urushi technique. The rich Vermillion red color is pigmented with red iron oxide, reminiscent of a geisha's lipstick or the dye that was used to color the fabrics of Japanese royalty. The fountain pen features a superb 18k nib that glides across the page effortlessly. The Namiki logo can be seen on the clip as well as on the nib, which also depicts an image of Mt. Fuji. The fountain pen comes in a nice softwood presentation box, and includes both a Con-70 converter and a bottle of ink to get you started writing with this gorgeous work of art.Urushi, the red material that forms the surface of this pen, is made from the sap from the Japanese lacquer tree. The process of collecting the Urushi (sap) and applying many layers of lacquer to this fountain pen takes three months or longer to complete. This technique, though painstaking, gives this fountain pen its deep lustrous sheen and has been used by Namiki craftsmen since 1918. Additional Pilot/Namiki ink cartridges are also available in several colors. Please note we are unable to accept a return of this pen for any reason once it has been inked. We offer Free Shipping on all orders over $59 for US customers, and for orders over $250 for our Canadian customers.
