A Micro-Mesh double sided soft pad, in a generous 3 x 4 inch size, with 8000 grit for nib work or where fine abrasive is needed. Safer on imprints and metal trim. Use wet for best performance and longevity.

Have used this before and it is is perfect for tuning nibs. Great prompt service from Anderson Pens. I don't buy much but this is the only place I buy it from

Nice large surface area
Most new nibs, if they need smoothing at all, need only a quick whizz round a 12,000 grit piece of micro mesh. If you need to do some more aggressive polishing, although people often suggest using a coarser grit than 8,000, prior to going to the 12,000, the 8,000 is that only one I personally feel safe with, as I am rather heavy-handed, and I've always found it sufficient. It should only be used briefly and lightly, but the risk to the nib is reduced by the large surface area, which allows you to give the nib a range of free and flowing movement, and by the "give" in the pad between the two pieces of micro mesh which makes it harder to apply too much pressure as compared to, say, a buffing stick. I like it, and I trust myself to use it.

Good for shaping things a little
This is pretty good when you drastically alter a nib by cutting it or something like that. It grinds it down nicely and you can shape the nib more into what you want

Great for tuning a nib to get rid of tooth
While not as smooth as the 12000 grit, this pad will smooth out some nibs to a pencil like feedback. Still smooth but definitely not glassy. This pad is great to begin smoothing a nib or to remove baby bottoms on a nib. Remember to check for tine alignment first!

Great for smoothing
I found the 8000 Grit micro mesh to work the best for minor nib adjustments. I write at an unusual angle and these pads made it very easy to adjust some of my more sensitive nibs.

Preparing for the final shine
The 8,000 grit pad can put a shine on any plastic, acrylic or other smooth, glossy surface. For best results, follow with 12,000 grit for the perfect sheen. I am pleased with the size of the pads which are larger than most.

Perfect sized pads
Having used the nail file sized micro-mesh to try to smooth my nibs, I believed that I didn't have the knack for smoothing nibs. How wrong I was. Turns out I just needed more real estate to work with. These pads are sized perfectly to allow me to make big enough figure 8's that make tuning nibs a breeze. Within 5 minutes I had smoothed out three problem nibs I hadn't been able to before.
Well worth the minimal price.
