Each 50ml glass bottle is a beautifully crafted container designed with an innovative dip at the bottom to make for easy filling of your fountain pen, when the ink level runs low. Yama-budo loosely translates from Japanese to Crimson Glory Vine, a shade of red that embodies the bright and ripe fruit of the wild, yet subdued crimson glory vine.

Dramatic but also practical

Although I use black or blue-black for business, iroshizuku yama-budo is one of my top choices for less formal and personal writing. The color is a deep red with a touch of blue making it look like what you might get after crushing a purple grape in a white handkerchief. This red is interestingly complex, and dark enough with good contrast for reading easily. I like the more generic translation of yama-budo as "mountain grape" which I associate with the actual color.

Dramatic deep color

This is my fourth iroshizuku ink, and each has been great. The yama-budo is a deep brilliant red with a touch of blue, making an exciting variant of what is often called burgundy or bordeaux (after the French wines). The effect is dramatic using a stub nib (line width variation), and the color is also pleasant using a uniform width fine nib.
