Finally found my "Purple-Black"…
I originally ordered this because I had read it did some amazing 'sheening'; well, I can't say I was able to see much of that (probably me). But I have been looking for years for an ink this dark (looks black unless you pay close attention) but is really a deep purple bordering on black. Wow. Is there such a thing as a "grail ink"?
Actually a super-dark purple
This isn't black the way HOD is black... it's a hyper-dark purple, which is only visible on rare occasions of flexing or otherwise applying very light strokes. All the praise for its smoothness is justified... this ink makes my nibs feel smoother and glides beautifully on the page. If you're looking for truly, truly black, this is a near miss. If you're looking for a very dark ink that will pass for black 99 percent of the time and that is a pleasure to use, this is a solid hit.
