Description R. Esterbrook No. 788 dip pen nib, with a breather hole shaped like an exclamation point. Marked Oval Point, has some flex to it. This nib was the basis for the 2788/9788 flexible medium nibs for fountain pens. Ribbed end near tipping allows for more ink to stay on the nib meaning fewer dips. Vintage nib ca. 1930's. Dip pen nibs are sold separately from a nib holder, which is usually called a dip pen.
