I LOVE this ink
I've finally purchases a bottle after seeing all the other reviews and comments, and I can say it's awesome. Depending on nib size and paper it'll read differently, from the classic #2 pencil to a grey green or grey purple. It's a well behaving ink and dries in about 5 seconds during regular writing.
Such an interesting shading ink
Sailor 123 is one of the most unique fountain pen inks I own. At first, it looks like a grayish purple but as it dries the complexity of colors really comes out. It can be purple, gray, green, with a hint of blue at all one time. Swatching this ink you really can see all of the different layers. The ink is dark enough to be able to read well and has become one of my absolute favorites. Sailor has really been killing the ink game! If you’re in to interesting shading inks (especially on Tomoe River) you HAVE to add this to your collection!!
Sailor Ink Studio 123
All of the samples I saw of this ink looked interested, so I ordered some. I decided to use a broad TWSBI, so I filled it. When I was done, I was amazed that the paper towel I used was a mixture of grey, pink and a lot of green around the edges. Of course, I had to try the ink out on several different papers. On some, it just remained a pretty shade of grey. On others, like Tomoe River, it became a combination of grey, pink and blue. I'm still having fun with this, and have used it in some art work. I am very glad that I bought it.
A bit finnicky, but a gorgeous color
From what I'd seen online, I didn't even try this with my F nib. With a TWSBI broad on Clairefontaine letter paper, the gray/lavender/green shading is visible, if a bit muted. I'll need to experiment with it a bit more, but it seems that stub nibs are the way to go with this ink.
As good as everyone says it is
This is a lovely dreamy, foggy lavender that just looks mysterious and different on every paper. If you are on the fence just get it. It's BEAUTIFUL in my LE Lavender Kaweco pen, just a stunning match. Look at samples around the net, and I think they are all pretty bang on the mark. Of course, loveliest in a broader nib, but even in my fine nib it still gives up good characteristics in my fine. So happy I got it. It and the 162 are must haves IMO.
Worth the Wait
Easily the most interesting ink I have ever tried. The ink gave me no troubles in my Nemosine 0.6 stub. The line was medium wet, dried quickly, and does the colors of the ink to advantage. And what colors! The base appears to be a pale lilac purple grey which shades very well and sheens into a gorgeous green. It's an incredible effect. The ink is dark enough for journaling and everyday writing, but it is far too unique for a business setting. 10/10 I will buy again.
Amazing!
This ink lives up to the hype! I typically like more saturated inks, especially since I write mostly with Japanese F or EF nibs, which really require more saturated colors. However, I put this in a Franklin-Christoph stub and this ink really shines. I wrote only on Tomoe River Paper and this ink is grey, green, pink, purple... it's just so special.
As lovely as you’ve heard
On the right paper, this is exactly as beautiful an ink as you’ve heard—gray or light blue, with purple and green where it pools. A new favorite.
